The following is a reflection of what serves as a window into the very H.E.A.R.T. of our ministry.
At The Crossroads, IT’S ALL ABOUT…
…HIM
At The Crossroads, we cherish our Savior, Jesus, in Whom we live and breathe and have our very being. We make it our goal to please Him. We value prayer as a gift from God, and sincerely believe that prayer makes the critical difference in all we do. We hold to a passionate commitment, where the beliefs we profess grip the heart as well as the mind. We seek to model an authenticity of faith, where what we say we believe is actually how we live. We embrace worship as life’s highest human endeavor.
…EXCELLENCE
We pay close attention to detail at every level of our ministry, so as to offer Christ our very best. We value change, but not change without purpose. We value organization and order, but not to the point of stifling our creativity and spontaneity. We value a relevant, easily applicable message, but the primary test of our message is, "Is it true?" We value a creative and diverse worship, as imaginative as our Creator Himself. We value God’s gifts of both laughter and tears, and freely indulge in both. We value personal purity, not public persona, Character more than charisma, Intimacy without intrusiveness, Excellence, but not extravagance, And an accountability that is affirming.
…ARTISTRY
Because God is beautiful and has made our beautiful world, we value creative and artistic expression in our individual and congregational lives. Art, poetry, dance, music — when directed to God, reflect the beauty and wisdom of God’s incarnate word in the person of Jesus Christ. We celebrate the arts as an essential part of learning, communicating and understanding the good news of our faith.
…RELATIONSHIPS
We treat one another with respect, as fellow-heirs of the grace of Christ. Our passion is to meet needs, not grow a church. We seek to lift spirits and put wings on weary hearts. Our approach is more "how to" than "ought to." We find reasons to be inclusive, not exclusive. We value grace more than guilt, and loving people not judging people. Because lost and hurting people matter to God, they matter to us, too. Our mission is the challenge of Isaiah 61, which calls us to preach the Gospel, mend the broken-hearted, set captives free, provide a house of praise and worship and rebuild waste places.
We believe that church is not just where people are encouraged to belong, it’s where they are also urged to become.…A place where every saint has a past and every sinner has a future.…A place where children and youth are cherished – for we know that the greatest days of this church will be under their direction.…And it’s a place of mutual ministry. It is not our goal to build a large audience, but, rather, an army — of fully-devoted soldiers for Christ.
…TRUST
Our biblical principles and beliefs are not for sale, nor are they dependent on the affirmation or acceptance of our culture. The trust of those we serve is a treasure not lightly received. Therefore, we value reliability and consistency in our communications and our actions. We are determined to be fresh and creative. With a passion and zeal for the lost and hurting world, we look for innovative ways to bridge our faith to a cynical and jaded society. We believe that God has uniquely called us to present His Gospel without unnecessary complication or confusion.
